Top Ten Tear Jerker Movies

Love them or hate them, tear jerkers set themselves apart from other films by the profound way in which their audiences are affected. The tear jerker connects with the audience on a deep and emotional level which can leave one spellbound for days afterwards.

Here’s my top ten:

1. The Notebook (2004) – Starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams

A tale of love lasting a lifetime and conquering all

2. A Very Long Engagement (2004) – Starring Audrey Tautou and Marion Cotillard

Twenty Inspirational Films

Films are not only a source of entertainment but a vehicle through which to be educated and moved. We know when we have seen a great film because we end up talking about it to all our friends and think about it for days afterwards. Inspirational films can be a starting point to make changes in our own lives, to appreciate what we have or to pursue our dreams. Inspirational films empower us, expanding our notion of what is possible.

The Last Buck

The Last Buck

by Thom Cantrall

It was hot!  But that was to be expected in August in northern California.  Summers here were always hot, though our proximity to the coast tended to ameliorate the extreme temperatures common to the interior valleys.  It was still more than warm enough to satisfy the most finicky of sun seekers.  It has since occurred to me that it is insanity to hunt deer in one hundred plus degree temperatures, but this being only the twelfth summer I’d known overall, and the sixth summer to enjoy the pursuit of the Columbian Blacktail Deer in the company of my father, I knew no better and accepted it as the status quo.  One does not know what one does not know.

Ghostbusters

Plot

After losing their jobs at Columbia University, a trio of misfit parapsychologists Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, and Egon Spengler establish their own paranormal exterminator service, “Ghostbusters.” The business, operating out of an abandoned fire station, gets off to a slow start, but just as they run out of money, the Ghostbusters are contacted by the upscale Sedgewick Hotel to investigate a haunting. At the hotel, they successfully (albeit chaotically) capture their first ghost and deposit him into a “containment unit” of their own design located at the Ghostbusters office. Paranormal activity appears to be on the rise in the city and business skyrockets for the Ghostbusters, who become local celebrities and hire a fourth member, Winston Zeddemore.
